The Interactive Graduation Planning System (iGPS) ties together many of IU Indianapolis's newest systems and aims to provide students and advisors with immediate feedback on whether a student's academic plan appears to be on track for graduation. The architectural vision is dynamic and is meant to convey the same level of feedback as GPS systems do when recalculating routes to a desired geographical destination—in the case of the iGPS, the destination is graduation. As a student makes changes to his or her plan by adding or removing courses and receiving grades, the iGPS system provides feedback to the student and to the student's advisor about the status of the plan, thereby allowing for earlier detection of challenges and development of alternative plans.
