Indianapolis, Ind.—The Division of Undergraduate Education has launched a new podcast entitled “Excellence Unscripted,” which offers fresh perspectives on overcoming challenges, maximizing learning opportunities, and fostering student success in today’s dynamic academic landscape.
The host, Christina Downey, vice provost for undergraduate education and dean of University College, will feature faculty and staff across all disciplines who promote student success and highlight the institution's dedication to identifying student needs.
“Excellence Unscripted” will explore topics of student support and growth, the role of creating an environment for excellence, and increasing student involvement.
Downey regards student success as ensuring equitable opportunities for all students to connect with a trusted mentor or advisor who can help them discover what they want, how their strengths tie into those goals, and how they can achieve their goals.
“I have been focused on bringing a clinical perspective, which is about helping people thrive, helping people achieve their goals, bringing it into the classroom, then bringing it into peer mentoring programs,” Downey said.
The podcast will also delve into:
- Navigating and raising awareness of resources available to students
- Student partnership with faculty in creating co-curricular opportunities
- Defining excellence during undergraduate education by understanding and identifying gaps
