Student employees and supervisors presented with NSEA Week awards

Each year during National Student Employee Appreciation (NSEA) Week, student employees and supervisors are honored with awards to celebrate their achievements. This year's awards included Student Employee Supervisor of the Year, Graduate Student Employee of the Year, and Undergraduate Student Employee of the Year. 

The Supervisor of the Year award was presented to Denise Rayman, a digital archivist in University Library. Rayman was also chosen as the winner in the same category for the Midwest Association for Student Employee Administrators, which represents 14 states and numerous universities.

"I was so touched to be nominated by my students for this award, and surprised and honored to be picked as this year’s winner," Rayman said. "Working with graduate students from the Luddy Library Science program is my favorite part of my job, and I love helping my student employees apply the theories they have learned in classes to real-world work."

Ericia Henry, a graduate assistant of student success for the Diversity Enrichment and Achievement Program, was named the Graduate Student Employee of the Year.

"I am deeply honored to have been nominated and selected as the 2024 Graduate Student Employee of the Year," Henry said. "Working alongside the incredible students and dedicated staff members in DEAP has truly been a blessing. Without the unwavering support of my team and the eagerness of students to learn and grow, this achievement would not have been possible. As I prepare to graduate, I am profoundly grateful for the privilege of leaving a positive impact on the students I've had the pleasure of working with."

There were five categories with undergraduate student winners, including leadership, critical thinking, technology & innovation, diversity & inclusion, and community service.

Ashley Remy, a senior ambassador for the Life-Health Sciences Internship Program, was awarded as the overall Undergraduate Student Employee of the Year. Remy was individually honored within the leadership category of the award.
