Students invited to nominate faculty and staff for new DUE Epitome Award

By:

Nominations are now open for the inaugural DUE Epitome Award. Established by Christina Downey, IUPUI’s new associate vice chancellor for undergraduate education and dean of University College, this award recognizes exemplary faculty and staff who support the success of undergraduate students at IUPUI.

This new award is unique among other campus awards in that it is based solely on student nominations. The nominees receiving the greatest number of votes will be selected for the award.

The DUE Epitome Award will recognize one person in each of the following categories:

  • Resident faculty
  • Adjunct faculty
  • Staff

In her first month at IUPUI, Downey prioritized the launch of the award because of the impact she knew it could make.

"Receiving a similar award during my time at IU Kokomo is one of the most meaningful moments of my career,” Downey said. “What made it so special was that it was decided entirely by students. I wanted to establish the DUE Epitome Award to provide that same opportunity for our students here at IUPUI to recognize and show appreciation for the faculty and staff members who have made a positive impact on their educational experience."

Winners will be announced at the Division of Undergraduate Education awards ceremony on April 19 at 3:30 p.m.

All IUPUI undergraduates are invited to submit nominations. The application closes at midnight on March 10.
