Suzann Lupton appointed interim executive director of the Center for Service and Learning

Suzann Lupton has been appointed as the interim executive director of the Center for Service and Learning, effective January 1. Suzann currently serves as an assistant dean and clinical assistant professor of law and nonprofit organizations in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI. She is also an associate faculty and Ph.D. candidate in the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. As she assumes this interim role, her service will be split 50/50 to continue many of her current responsibilities.

"The addition of Suzann is an excellent opportunity for our campus. She has proven to be an exemplary partner on campus and has been involved in many strategic endeavors throughout IUPUI," remarked Dr. Jay Gladden, associate vice chancellor for undergraduate Education.

Suzann is an active member of the University Affairs Committee (UAC), helped to envision the new Profiles of Undergraduate Learning and Success, and has collaborated on the Student Experience Council. Additionally, she is well-connected in the community and currently serves on boards for The District Theatre and University High School. Her past engagements include board positions and memberships with the Indiana Arts Commission, Horizons Summer Enrichment Program, and the Indiana Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness.

"While Dr. Julie Hatcher’s retirement leaves large shoes to be filled, I have no doubt that Suzann will be able to guide the continuation of the great work of CSL," commented Gladden.

Lupton will replace Dr. Julie Hatcher, who announced her retirement in August. A search for the permanent executive director of the Center for Service and Learning will begin in the spring of 2019.
