Brianne Karazsia has been named the 2018 Student Employee of the Year for the state of Indiana by the Midwest Association of Student Employee Administrators (MASEA) and for IUPUI by the Office of Student Employment. Karazsia, a senior in the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health, has worked for the IUPUI Office of Student Employment for the past two years and is currently the employer relations ambassador. She was nominated by her supervisor, Lauren DeHaan, for her dedication and exceeding the expectations of her role.
“Brianne is an exemplary member of our team—her passion and commitment to the work we do have consistently impressed the employers, staff, and students she works with each day. She has been an invaluable resource.” stated DeHaan.
As the employer relations ambassador, Karazsia has planned and implemented multiple high-level projects. Most notable were her contributions to the IUPUI Part-Time Job Fair and the development of an onboarding and training program for new employees. “It’s easy to forget that Brianne is a student employee and not a full-time professional. The quality of her work and the ease with which she navigates challenges and unknowns has gone far beyond what is expected of this position,” said DeHaan. Under Karazsia’s leadership, the Part-Time Job Fair saw an increase in student attendance and consistent positive feedback from employers. Her onboarding and training program has already been fully implemented in the Office of Student Employment and is slated to be shared among on- and off-campus employers as a best practice for part-time employers.
