As the IUPUI Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE) closed a busy and exciting academic year of transition and growth, it held a division recognition ceremony for faculty and staff at the beginning of May 2017 in the IUPUI Campus Center. The celebration honored faculty and staff for their contributions to the division that have enhanced the IUPUI community and promoted student success.

The recognition ceremony opened with a welcome from Jay Gladden, associate vice chancellor for undergraduate education and dean of University College, who expressed his gratitude to faculty and staff for their hard work and dedication during the year.

This division is a catalyst for student growth and development. . . . Every single interaction with students, even on your worst day, has meaning for them.

Several faculty and staff in the division were recognized for conference, local, and national awards received, as well as service appointments made from national organizations during the academic year. Gladden also noted that "this division is a catalyst for student growth and development. . . . Every single interaction with students, even on your worst day, has meaning for them." At the conclusion of his remarks, Gladden challenged the ceremony attendees to reflect on their own personal growth and how they can encourage their colleagues and students to continue growing and achieving.
