Indianapolis, IN (April 2017) – Daniel Kinsey, a program assistant in the Gateway to Graduation office in the Division of Undergraduate Education, was among the top 100 students recently recognized at IUPUI’s 18th annual Top 100 Outstanding Students Recognition Dinner at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown. A junior from Noblesville, Indiana, Kinsey is majoring in medical humanities and health studies.
When asked how it feels to be a part of IUPUI’s Top 100, Kinsey stated, “It feels awesome! IUPUI is so big that it can be hard to find validation. It feels good to be acknowledged.” As a program assistant, Kinsey is responsible for organizing and planning faculty retreats and supporting the office with other projects. His favorite aspect of the job is the level of responsibility that he holds. He explained that he feels valued at Gateway to Graduation and always has something to contribute.
Kate Thedwall, director of the Gateway to Graduation program and Kinsey’s supervisor, said, “Daniel has been an incredible asset to gateway these past years. His commitment to the program and his fellow students has been outstanding. He is funny and entertaining and helps make being here fun and enjoyable.”
In addition to his job with Gateway to Graduation, Kinsey serves as an academic mentor with the Bepko Learning Center and as a volunteer at the Indianapolis Ronald McDonald House. Upon graduation, Kinsey plans to pursue a master’s degree in philosophy prior to enrolling in medical school to study pediatric surgery.
The IUPUI Alumni Council and the Student Organization for Alumni Relations at IUPUI facilitated this semiformal recognition dinner of the institution’s top 100 juniors and seniors.
