Indianapolis, IN (September 2016) – IUPUI’s Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE) will host the fourteenth annual National Mentoring Symposium on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the IUPUI Campus Center. This one-day national conference for students who work as peer mentors will offer over 20 concurrent sessions for personal and professional development with a focus on enhancing skills and increasing one’s knowledge of peer mentoring techniques, resources, and innovative programming.
The symposium’s 2016 keynote speaker will be Justin Jones-Fosu, an author, international speaker, and award-winning entrepreneur. His most recent book,Finding Your Glasses: Revealing and Achieving Authentic Success, encourages readers to live successful lives centered around their individual core values. Jones-Fosu attended Morgan State University where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 2006. He attended graduate school at the University of Baltimore, earning a master’s in leadership and organizational change in 2008. Jones-Fosu is the president of Justin Inspires International, LLC through which he gives over 50 presentations annually around the world. He is also the founder of Respectivity, an organization that focuses on developing respectful cultures within workplaces. Jones-Fosu has been named one of EBONY Magazine’s “30 Young Leaders Under 30 on the Rise.”
At the end of the day’s programs, students can participate in a Shirt Share in which they exchange a t-shirt from their school for a t-shirt from another school represented at the symposium. Last year 20 universities were represented from across 10 states.
