Indianapolis, IN (May 2015) – At its annual Student Employee of the Year recognition luncheon, the Division of Undergraduate Education’s Office of Student Employment announced that the IUPUI Student Employee of the Year award recipient was Anthony Taylor. Taylor’s name was then submitted to the Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators (MASEA), and he also won the Student Employee of the Year award for the State of Indiana.
Taylor, a 2015 graduate, was course administrator in the Biology Department within the School of Science. He was nominated by Kathleen Marrs, PhD, associate dean for academic affairs in the School of Science. Marrs stated in her nomination letter, “This student’s strong academic record of success, dedication as an undergraduate employee and volunteer at IUPUI, and preparation for a career in medicine is impressive….When he graduates this May, I will be deeply saddened to see him go, but, of course, very proud of all that he has accomplished academically and professionally as a student employee at IUPUI.”
Janna McDonald, director of the Office of Student Employment, commented, “Each year, during the second full week in April, National Student Employee Appreciation (NSEA) Week comes to IUPUI! The vibrant and engaging week is planned and facilitated by the Office of Student Employment in coordination with the national association. The week offers events and programs to show appreciation to IUPUI students working on- and off-campus, as well as empowers employers to appreciate and recognize their student employees for their contributions.”
IUPUI is a member of MASEA whose goals are to exchange ideas relative to the administration of student employment services; to serve effectively the interest and needs of students who desire employment to finance their education; to facilitate communications between educational institutions and employers of students; and, perhaps most importantly, recognize student employee contributions through institutional, state, and regional honors.
