Indianapolis, IN (March 2014) – Barbra Browning, the director of Student Support Services at IUPUI for the past 16 years, has received the Advocate of the Dream award for her promotion of the ideals of freedom and equality present in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s historic “I Have A Dream” speech. Browning is being acknowledged for her support and persistence of these ideals in her day-to-day counseling and mentoring of and advocacy for the students she serves. This is the second time that Browning has received this award from the Black Student Union at IUPUI.
“I am tremendously honored to have received the Advocate of the Dream award from the Black Student Union,” said Browning. "There is always something extra special when students take the time out to say 'Thank You' or 'We Appreciate You.' We have great students on this campus, and it is very fulfilling to have the opportunity to assist them in reaching their goal of obtaining a college education.”
