Indianapolis, IN (August 2012) — Jenna Corcoran and Jennifer Weinmann, IUPUI employees in the University College Office of Student Employment, earned the Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators (MASEA) “Best Presenter Award” for 2011-2012. MASEA is the student employment association for several regions that are all tied to the National Association of Student Employment Administrators (NSEA). Winners of this regional award are granted free travel to the national conference this October in Portland, Maine, and the opportunity to deliver the same presentation.
The “Best Presenter Award” is given to the highest reviewed presentation at the NSEA’s annual conference based on attendee’s votes. Corcoran and Weinmann received the highest number of positive reviews about their presentation, “Making Student Appreciation a Week-Long Event.” Both Corcoran and Weinmann are actively involved in the production of IUPUI’s Student Employee Appreciation Week and decided to discuss and display this event as the topic of their presentation. Guests of their presentation learned how Corcoran and Weinmann have developed the annual celebration into a week-long event, and gained ideas for career-related and student-oriented activities, as well as alternative options for funding and sponsorship.
“We made a presentation on what we thought would be good to share with this audience. We wanted to make it interactive, and let people talk and share their ideas,” Weinmann said. “I think [the presentation] went really well the first time and will be easy to do again.”
As for Corcoran, she stated, “I feel honored to have been awarded the presenter’s award through the MASEA Regional Conference. This was my first regional conference, and it was very rewarding to be given the opportunity to present as a new attendee. I am looking forward to presenting this topic at the national conference.”
